He bent down and blew on the left side of the bowl, rotating it slightly with his wrist. When he finished, the custard's left side was a glossy brown. "There you go."

"Thank you." She tilted her head. Grinning, she used her spoon to pry some of the darker crust free and slip it onto the lighter half. She showed it to Zuko. "Guess what this is."

Zuko blinked and frowned at it. Then his expression relaxed and his whole posture eased. "The koi fish," he said.

Fandomme, "Stormbenders", Chapter 7




This is one of my most favorite scenes from "Stormbenders" (I'm sure I don't have to explain what "Stormbenders" is ). I'd been working on this on and off since Fandomme put up chapter 7, and its finally done! (cue sigh of relief and accomplishment!)

I had no idea about Zuko's tea-bending uniform, so being the highly talented fashion designer that I am, I designed it myself, complete with pink pyjamas! Also I have to admit that my command on Far Eastern architecture is limited; I didn't even know what a lanai is before drawing this (...and I'll be graduating as an architect next year... the shame... ) so I hope I got the backdrop right. It's not a very romantic setting, but then, it's not supposed to be, and that's probably what I like most about the whole scene.
